Switching to period underwear is a game-changer. If this is your first time wearing period underwear, here’s everything you need to know to get the best experience with your Fri Periods.
What is period underwear?
In short: it’s absorbent, leak-proof underwear designed to be worn during your period (but not only then—more on that below!). Our signature printed gusset is made with breathable layers that wick away, absorb, and lock in fluid, keeping you dry and comfortable. And because Fri Period underwear is made with organic cotton and bamboo—without using PFAS or other toxic nasties—it’s gentle on your body and the planet.
How to use period underwear
Think of it as a complete replacement for tampons and disposable pads or liners (or as a fail-safe backup protection if you’re using a tampon, menstrual cup, or disc).
Each pair holds up to 2–3 regular tampons’ worth of fluid (depending on the style you bought), and you can wear them up to 24 hours. That said, most people prefer to switch once in the morning and once before bed (and more if needed to suit your flow).
✨ Pro Tip: Try wearing them on the days before your period starts to avoid surprise period leaks, or as your period is ending and you’re in that annoying light spotting phase. They’re brilliant for those in-between times!
Washing & caring for your Fri Period underwear
We promise, it’s easy:
-
Rinse in cold water after use until the water runs clear.
-
Machine wash on cold or low temp—just detergent, no bleach or softener.
-
Air dry—either lay flat or hang. That’s it!
With proper care, your Fri Period underwear will last for years. We made sure of it.
